Connect your rower

Norvin talks to your rower directly over Bluetooth and reads pace, power, stroke rate and heart rate as you row. It works with the Concept2 PM5, and other Bluetooth rowers have early support.

The first time

  1. Wake the rower's monitor — press any button or take a stroke.
  2. On a PM5, press Menu, then Connect, and leave that screen open.
  3. In Norvin, tap Start on today's workout, or set up a free row on the Workouts tab.
  4. Tap Connect, and allow Bluetooth when your phone asks. Norvin uses it only for the rower.
  5. Tap your rower when it appears. A PM5's name starts with "PM5" followed by its serial number.

Next time

Norvin remembers your rower. When you tap Start it looks for that one first and connects by itself, as long as the monitor is awake and nearby. Rowing on a different machine? Tap "Not your rower? Choose another" and pick it from the list.

Other Bluetooth rowers

Rowers that use the standard Bluetooth fitness-machine connection (FTMS) appear in the same list. Support for them is early: we haven't tried every model yet, so if yours behaves oddly, tell us with Send feedback. Some need an add-on to talk Bluetooth — a WaterRower needs its ComModule.

On these rowers Norvin guides every step of the workout on your phone, and immersive scenes follow your speed but not each stroke.

One app at a time

A rower connects to one app at a time. If ErgData or another rowing app is open, close it first.

Row with the Norvin app

Rowing happens in the Norvin app — it reads your erg live over Bluetooth.
